Diseases of The Esophagus Journal Statistical Editor

Diseases of the Esophagus (DOTE), the official journal of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE), invites you to submit an expression of interest for the position of Statistical Editor

The Statistical Editor is a new role within the DOTE Editorial team and will play a vital role in ensuring the scientific rigor and accuracy of manuscripts published in DOTE. This position is responsible for evaluating the statistical integrity of submissions, supporting authors and editors in refining analyses, and helping to maintain the journal’s high standards of methodological quality. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely statistical review of assigned manuscripts, assessing study design, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and editorial office staff to facilitate fair and efficient peer review.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all submitted materials.
  • Participate in editorial discussions and contribute to the strategic direction of the journal as needed.
  • Advise on cases involving potential concerns related to data integrity or statistical reporting. 

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in study design, statistical methods, and data analysis across clinical and translational research.
  • Familiarity with statistical software packages and ability to independently evaluate manuscripts. 
  •  Experience with peer-reviewed publications, either as an author, reviewer, or editor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with editors, authors, and reviewers.
  • Understanding of and appreciation for clinically focused research in esophageal diseases and related disciplines is desirable.

Compensation

USD 60 per review with a maximum of 18 reviews per year.
