21 Aug 2020 6:47 PM | Michele O'Bright (Administrator)

By Wayne L. Hofstetter, MD

Dr DeMeester was ISDE's fourth president, during presidency he facilitated two important changes: First he shaped the ISDE into a truly worldwide society by establishing it as a 501-C3 nonprofit organization. Secondly, Dr DeMeester altered the structure of the society, such that the presidency would switch between surgeon and internist, thus encouraging multidisciplinary leadership and participation in the meetings and membership.

Find out more about Dr DeMeester in Diseases of the Esophagus, Volume 33, Issue 8, August 2020.
