Congress Bid Guidelines

The ISDE is an international, multispecialty society founded in 1979 for the study of the esophagus in disease and in health. The goal of the congress is to promote the exchange of scientific and medical knowledge among specialists in the field, to maintain interchange with organizations and industries, and to encourage basic and clinical research in fields related to the esophagus. 

In order to promote the professional and educational development of individuals interested in the esophagus, the ISDE sponsors its own journal, international congresses, and other educational programs. The ISDE is managed under the auspices of International Conferences Service, Ltd.

2023 World Congress Bid Guidelines

The ISDE is now accepting applications to host the 2023 World Congress for Esophageal Diseases. The ISDE Congresses are held annually and follow a three-year rotation among three global regions: Eastern (Asia/Pacific), Europe, and Western (America's). According to the rotation, the 2023 Congress is scheduled to be held in the European region.

Any convention bureau within the European region is invited to submit a letter of intent to host.

An active ISDE member should support the Full Bid Proposal as a Regional Organization Committee (ROC) Chair. ISDE will coordinate introductions with members upon invitation to submit a full bid.

Key Dates

  • April 16, 2020 - Letter of intent due
  • May 7, 2020 - Invitation to prepare a full bid proposal
  • June 30, 2020 - Deadline for receipt of bid
  • September 29, 2020 - Decision of shortlisted cities
  • December 2020 - Final selection
