I would like to show great thanks for the support of ISDE scholarship
2000 to study in USA. I had the opportunity to study in Boston,
where I studied research for tumor angiogenesis from February 2000
to March 2001. The laboratory was the cardiovascular research where
angiogenesis was investigated aggressively and leading in this field,
gene therapy was conducted for ischemic diseases successfully in
the clinic department. Basically research fellows were conducting
many in vivo experiments for vasculogenesis and many original methods
to investigate anglogenesls had been established. In the situation
I could enjoy tumor angiogenesis research using esophageal cancer
cell line which I brought from Kyoto University. I would like to
express my sincere thanks to Dr. Jeffrey M. Isner and Dr. Takayuki
Asahara for giving me an opportunlty to study in Boston.
Boston is one of the centers for angiogenesls research in the world.
I could also participate in some meeting for angiogenesis held at
the Harvard University In Boston.
It was the most precious experience for me. Fortunately I could
attend to the meeting.
Angiogellesis and Cancer hosted by American Association for Cancer
Research held in Michigan in autumn, I could hear the latest knowledge
about tumor angiogenesis there, and also enjoyed the autumn foliage
in Michigan.
Besides the researches for tumor angiogenesis I assisted the research
for heart failure models for gene therapy using mice and rats. They
had been continued after I came back to Japan.
I heard the experiments going well and in success.
I actually enjoyed researches with friends in the laboratory and
life with my family in old historic Boston. Unfortunately Boston
is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live so that
I Iearned to lead a frugal life.
Finally I appreciate generous decision to award me to study In a
cardiovascular research laboratory. I would like to show great thanks
to the Scho]arship Committe of ISDE for awarding me the ISDE 2000
scholarship, and all staffs in the cardiovascular research, St.
Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston, for the help and great hospitality
during my stay in Boston.
